Why does it matter if one goes to cosmetology school or not?
The ability to perform beautification on another whether it be in the form of hairdressing or makeup artistry is a talent.
You are either talented in that arena or you are not.
This cannot be forced which is why many who go to cosmetology school do not succeed.
Most licensed cosmologists today are self-taught.
For example, I taught myself how to do a basic French braid on a doll at the tender age of 6, only after watching my aunt braid my sister’s hair.
You see, I had a desire to style hair from a young age and that desire has stayed with me throughout the years.
It brings great joy to my heart when my hands can make someone else feel empowered through hairstyling.
Empowerment brings confidence and confidence brings success.
As a talented person in hair or licensed cosmetologist, you bring hope to many with your hands and don’t you ever forget your purpose.
So, by now you may be asking, “ok, I am talented in the art of beautification, what’s next?”
I am glad you asked because this brings me to my point.
WHY I ATTENDED COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL AND WHY YOU SHOULD TOO?
A few years ago, I decided to attend.
I have to admit it has been and still is the most liberating decision of my life.
It was an even more liberating decision than deciding to attend college to get my undergrad degree.
The decision to attend cosmetology school was the most liberating because that’s what I dreamt of doing for years.
Finally, I felt like a real adult when I made the decision. I was happy and extremely confident that I was making the right choice.
After years of using my talent, I needed validation from seasoned professionals.
I needed to learn general sciences, hair care, styling procedures, skin and nail care, and business skills
And, I did.
I don’t regret a single day of cosmetology school; every day was fun and exciting.
I looked forward each day to leaving worked at 4:30 pm to commute 30 minutes on the interstate to get to school by 6:00 pm, I was eager to learn.
My instructors and classmates at Palm Beach Stage College were amazing. I was challenged, I excelled.
AND NOW WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL?
You may still be asking why does this matter?
It matters because the world is waiting for a talented professional like yourself who knows the science of hair, skin, nails and more.
One who is fully equipped and not halfway.
You may be talented but if you are not qualified or licensed, you will get zero respect in the beauty industry.
You will always have that feeling of inadequacy because you are not licensed.
Getting through cosmetology school and achieving passing scores on your state board exam is the icing on the cake.
You will enhance your skills, you will increase your clientele.
And most importantly, you will be legal to practice in your state.
